Between Saint Maud and now The Energy, it looks like nurse horror is all the fad in the intervening time.
Set in 1974 in an echoey London hospital, Corinna Religion’s film shares a reputation with the upcoming Amazon adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s novel however little else. It follows Val (Rose Williams), a brand new worker working the evening shift at a time when miners’ strikes are resulting in common blackouts throughout the town.
The sprawling hospital advanced with its empty and echoing corridors makes for the proper horror setting, and from the seems of the trailer this one goes to actually ramp up the psychological terror.
The Energy lands on Shudder on April 9.
