When you go abroad on holiday and take a look around the shops, you may look around and see quite a few bargains. There can be lots of bargains to be had, but you still need to be careful and vigilant to make sure that you do not end up paying over the odds for something and that you get what it is that you are expecting. If you do some research and also shopping around you will be able to find a great bargain and save yourself some money. Clothing There can be a lot of choice in the clothing available which can also give you something unique which you do not see very often at home. One thing to be careful of with clothing, if you are buying clothes from a very warm climate, this may be great for when you are on holiday, but they may not be suitable to wear at home if you live in a much cooler climate. Be practical and if you are going to buy clothing get something which you can wear at home as well. It is a waste if you only get to wear it on holiday. Unless you can afford to go away two or three times a year!

Jewellery

You can get yourself a great bargain in jewellery when you are abroad if you do enough leg work and shopping around. You will need to make sure that you purchase from a reputable dealer and that you are also getting the genuine article. If you are looking for diamonds then always make sure that the seller has the appropriate paperwork to ensure that you are not purchasing a conflict stone. Also if getting an antique piece of jewellery, try and get the provenance to prove exactly what it is and where it came from, this will possibly increase the value of it in the future. There are lots of scams around the world with jewellery and precious stones, so you do need to be very careful and do not rush into a purchase. If you feel pressured or the deal sounds too good to be true, the chances are you are not going to get what you expect so walk away.

Electrical products

Whether you go on your holidays to Gran Canaria or to Singapore, there are lots of bargains to be had with the electrical goods available. It is very common for people to buy cameras and video cameras when they are away as the prices are quite often cheaper than when at home. You do need to be careful with electrical items though as you will need to check the warranty terms. You could find that when you get your Sony camera back home and it gets a problem, that the warranty is not covered in your country. Some manufacturers like Acer do offer a full International Warranty which you can use at any Acer service centre in the world. Just like with jewellery, you do need to be careful before making a purchase. Make sure that the voltage of the item is the same at home and also that the plug will work, or you may be able to just use and adapter plug at home. Being careful As well as making sure that you only purchase from reputable dealers and that you are actually getting the genuine product, there are also some other considerations to take into account before making any purchases.

If this is available in the country that you are visiting then you may need to purchase from some of the larger stores in order to purchase goods tax free. You will also need to be aware of the customs duty taking goods back to your home country, as when you add the Import Duty you may find you bargain is not so cheap. A lot of people will not declare goods and do get away with it, but people also do get caught doing this and this can turn out to be very costly. It is better to be safe than sorry and declare and high value goods that you purchased. Make sure that you warranty is covered in your home country and also you might want to take out some extra insurance when you travel in case of loss or damage.
