Remembering Jack Kerouac, born today in 1922 | Boing Boing


On today in 1922, Jean-Louis Lebris de Kérouac entered this world by Lowell, MA and commenced to burn, burn like a wonderful yellow roman candle.

On this 1959 clip from the Steve Allen Present, Jack reads from On the Highway whereas Allen performs some bluesy jazz strains beneath him. This look was to advertise an album that Kerouac and Allen had simply launched, known as Poetry for the Beat Era.
