On Saturday evening, Phoebe Bridgers made essentially the most of her rock star second.
In her first Saturday Evening Reside look, Bridgers capped off her two-song efficiency with an appropriately epic end. As she and her band barreled by “I Know the Finish,” off the 2020 album Punisher, the American singer-songwriter smashed the shit out of her guitar.
In a second of gorgeous chaos, Bridgers confidently joined the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, and Jerry Lee Lewis as she turned her musical outlet right into a violent expression of uncooked emotion. Notably, “I Know the Finish” is a tune about despair, loss, and leaving residence. It ends in screams and noise, a dissonant cacaphony of sound that lends itself completely to the sparks that flew as Bridgers struck a stage monitor time and again along with her axe.
As is so typically the case when one thing occurs, the folks of Twitter had been left with issues to say. Plenty of it’s both normal reward for Bridgers’ look or good-to-great jokes concerning the smashed guitar. Bridgers even shared just a few of these herself.

As is at all times the case in our fashionable and absolutely related world, there have been sticks within the mud, too. Individuals who, for one motive or one other felt that Bridgers went too far. Which is in fact ridiculous on its face for anybody who has even a passing familiarity with rock historical past.
However in a cheerful twist, and since a smashed guitar second isn’t not epic, the naysayers merely created fodder for extra good jokes.
Phoebe Bridgers, please go forward and smash all of the guitars you need (not that you just want anybody’s permission). It is by no means not badass and most of us like to see it.
