In 1966, Japanese movie studio Toei Animation produced The King Kong Present, the primary anime collection made in Japan particularly for an American manufacturing firm, Videocraft Internationa (aka Rankin/Bass)l, to air on US tv. Cartoonists Jack Davis and Rod Willis designed the characters together with the mighty Kong.
“The Rankin/Bass King Kong was an early case of identification theft, the place the Kong identify was appropriated (totally beneath license) to explain a brand new character that, at greatest, solely remotely resembled his namesake,” writes comedian historian Michael Eury in Comics Gone Ape! The Missing Link to Primates in Comics. “This was Kong completed fallacious.”
I respectfully disagree.
